Here is a selection of projects that I have recently been involved with. This list only goes back approximately 12 months — I’ll add more projects as I document them.
MakeDown
A makefile intended to glue pandoc and LaTeX and a few other document preparation tools together. Among other things, I’m using it to build my masters thesis.
TonyTracker
Also known as ‘Lojack your iPhone’, TonyTracker is a Ruby on Rails application that accepts location updates, and performs some nifty visual statistics.
Location Aware Ubuntu
In concert with TonyTracker, I threw together a few scripts to make Ubuntu Linux a little more location aware.
Gr8 Designs for Gr8 Girls
I ran two sessions introducing about twenty grade 8 girls to robotics using Lego Mindstorms NXT kits
Tone-O-Meter
A trivial prototyping project using a microcontroller, some ruby code and whatever I could find around the house to create an IRC mood meter.
Conway’s Life
I wrote a distributed version of Conway’s Life with a python GUI as part of a SHARCNET outreach project.
An AVR Powered Arc Reactor
I created an Iron Man style arc reactor prop for a Hallowe’en costume using an AVR microprocessor.
Little Robots
I made two little robots — one for my fiancé’s desk, and one for mine. When you poke one in the belly, the other one waves. They talk to their host computers via USB, and the host applications talk to each other over XMPP/Jabber.
Interactive Valentines Card
Every year, I make Sheena a Valentines card. This year, I made an interactive card with an embedded processor and an LED matrix display.
