That sounds like fun.

I'll have to think a little bit about the curriculum. I'm designing something similar for another group, so it shouldn't be too hard to expand the scope a little.

If I got a group together, would you be willing to run a one-session crash course "Introductory Robotics for Fun and Profit" to coincide with the first semester of summer?

An ideal curriculum would be the essence of "Valentines Day Card 2010", "Tone-O-Meter", "Little Robots" and perhaps "Gr8 Designs for Gr8 Girls" (since it contains proprietary parts).

Additionally, I know an electrical engineer here if you'd be happy to collaborate.

We can discuss pricing and logistics over e-mail if you're interested.

Tony,
Have you seen OptoGroover?
A very similar concept by RoboDynamics (http://robodynamics.com/optogroover) but uses lights instead of an actuator arm. They also have Teddy which has pushbuttons and more expressive. You can see the video here:

[...] Little Robots (twitter: @tonious) This was a very interesting demo, though very hard to see in the packed room. He addressed the basic issue of subtle communication between individuals. The developer built two little robots, one for his fiancé and another for himself. By pushing the belly-button on his robot, his fiancé’s robot waves at her, and vice-versa. Very cool. But since I know little about hardware, I’ll stick with text messaging my girlfriend for now. [...]
